The city is home to a lot of shops that welcome cannabis consumers

In Portland, OR, there are a variety of places where residents and visitors can enjoy alcoholic beverages. Still, many marijuana enthusiasts would like to know if this is also true for the consumption of the plant. Although the consumption of cannabis on public streets is not allowed in The City of Roses, there are several alternatives for cannabis lovers to puff, puff, and pass safely and without running afoul of the law.

Several positive local cannabis-friendly events, such as the Make & Mary craft collective, the Arcane Revelry infused dinner series and the Tokeativity women’s space, are taking on the task of implementing new locations where cannabis lovers can get high with the company of friends and people who share the same lifestyle and culture.

Make & Mary is an event that brings the concept of “drinking and drawing” to Portland’s legal cannabis space. This spacious loft is a little less airy than usual, with curls of marijuana smoke swirling toward the party lights. The goal of these workshops is to bring cannabis lovers and the curious together to experience heritage craft.

Another popular place for cannabis exploration is Arcane Revelry. This experience is based on a series of marijuana pop-up dinners that are hosted by Crystal Feldman, a well-known event planner, and local artist.

“I wanted to create a safe space for people to enjoy cannabis the way that I enjoy it in my life,” she says, “which is with good friends, good food, fun conversation, and art.”

And finally, there’s Tokeativity, a shared endeavor created by Samantha Montanaro and Lisa Snyder in order to normalize cannabis and support safe exploration. This cannabis community is specifically for women and its mission is to foster education, connection and creativity. “If women are still smoking alone in their bedrooms, it doesn’t facilitate the growth of the cannabis movement,” Snyder says.
