Becoming a CBD consumer means knowing what to expect when making purchases

Cannabidiol (CBD) has become a mainstream substance used by many people in the country who are taking advantage of the many health benefits and receiving treatment for several conditions. Due to this, more people that have zero experience in anything that has to do with cannabis are starting to become interested in using CBD products to treat different ailments. However, choosing a product for the first time can be tricky and confusing, and there are several things worth knowing before adventuring in buying a CBD product for the first time.

First, it is important to understand that CBD is a cannabinoid that can be extracted from both marijuana and hemp plants, which come from the same species. The only difference between these two plants is the amount of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) – the intoxicating cannabinoid – that is present. Hemp typically doesn’t have more than 0.3% of THC, while CBD derived from marijuana plants can have somewhere between 5%-30% THC.

Another thing that can bring first-time users more peace is that, since the 2018 Farm Bill was approved, CBD is fully legal across all states in the country, so people can purchase products without remorse. However, marijuana-extracted CBD might only be legal in those states with cannabis legislation – only hemp-derived CBD is legal.

CBD is also safe for anyone who uses it, according to the World Health Organization. Of course, there are always cases in which it is not recommended, so it’s better to ask the doctor first, especially children and pregnant women. In addition to that, there can be some side effects associated with the use of CBD, depending on the amount taken. Some people have reported fatigue and drowsiness, nausea, diarrhea, and changes in mood; however, they are quite uncommon, and the side effects are mostly mild.
