Using CBD for muscle recovery

CBD oil after a workout continues to achieve greater popularity

When working out, especially if the routine is more rigorous, fibers in the muscles can often become damaged. This is why it sometimes takes a couple of days to fully recover from a workout. The microscopic damage leads to muscle inflammation, which leads to soreness or stiffness and, obviously, pain. There are a number of over-the-counter solutions available to combat the pain and inflammation, but none offer the intensity of relief provided by cannabidiol (CBD) oil.

CBD oil is natural – it is extracted from hemp or marijuana, both naturally occurring plants. It has already been identified in helping reduce pain, arthritis and other afflictions – including epileptic seizures – and is becoming a regular staple of the health and wellness industry.

As personal trainer Tara Laferrara explains, “As a personal trainer and someone that works out every day and really pushes myself a lot, I noticed the biggest difference in inflammation and stress after a workout. It basically manages and prevents my joint inflammation, that aching kind of feeling, that I’d get after a heavy lift day.”

Scientific studies have already proven the benefits of CBD. De. Perry Solomon, the former chief medical officer of HelloMD, states, “Broadly speaking, it does decrease inflammation when it’s rubbed on muscles as an ointment or taken orally.” The Frontiers in Neurology supported CBD when it published last year, “[CBD] is anti-inflammatory, antioxidative, antiemetic, antipsychotic, and neuroprotective.”

CBD oil comes in balms, lotions, edibles, capsules and more. When muscles get sore following a workout, take a little CBD-infused lotion, rub it directly into the affected area and you will start to feel the relief within a matter of minutes.
