The cannabis supporter and former member of Cheech and Chong is heading to the Garden State
Tommy Chong is one of the most important cannabis icons. After serving time in jail as a result of the DEA’s “Pipe Dreams” operation, Chong became an advocate for cannabis legalization. Now after his great influence in the marijuana world he has been chosen to host New Jersey’s first major consumer expo.
Since the Grande State welcomed the legal marijuana market in April, many educational and business-to-business conferences have been held across the state. In fact, one of the largest is scheduled to take place this weekend in Atlantic City. Chong, who is extremely well known in the cannabis world, has been chosen to host New Jersey’s first consumer marijuana expo on September 16-18 at the Edison Convention and Expo Center.
It is important to note that the exhibition will only be open to people over 21 years of age and while it is expected that guests will bring their own products, they must abide by the legal limits imposed by the state. It has been made clear that no vendors will sell THC products, but a special area will be set aside for smokers.
The expo will feature more than 75 vendors and 25 panels to make the weekend experience unique. Cannabis 101, medical cannabis and a seminar on “Fighting the social, racial and economic injustices of cannabis” are some of the topics that will be addressed.
“Even though more Americans now smoke marijuana more than tobacco, there is still a lot of misperception and confusion to overcome before legalization becomes normalization,” said J. Handy, an event co-founder, in an official statement. “At 420 Expo, cannabis will be the star.”
