Things to consider when visiting cannabis dispensaries

There’s proper etiquette consumers need to follow when shopping for cannabis

While legalization has been on the rise legal cannabis is still a bit of a new topic in the US, and people often don’t know what to expect during their first visit to the dispensary. Visiting a dispensary for the first time can be a bit overwhelming, especially if you’re also new to cannabis use. But if you are intimidated by the idea of visiting a dispensary, there are a few things you should know in order to be properly prepared.

One thing is for sure, always bring your ID. Every dispensary (whether they sell medical marijuana, recreational marijuana or both) will ask to see your ID when you arrive. So, remember to always carry a valid government-issued ID, or you won’t be able to buy. In addition, if you are a medical marijuana patient, you will also want to remember to bring your medical marijuana license.

If you’ve never been to a dispensary, you may not know that many dispensaries are cash only. While some dispensaries accept credit or debit cards, many (if not most) do not. Therefore, be sure to check whether or not a dispensary is cash-only before your visit so that you can come prepared with cash if necessary.

Think about your goals before going to a dispensary. Before you arrive at the dispensary, you should consider what your purpose will be. Dispensary employees are always going to recommend something to you and keep you up to date on the latest strains that have arrived.

Don’t worry if you are new to marijuana, but be sure to tell this to the employees who will be assisting you. If you know what problem you want to solve and you can communicate it, it will make your choice process much easier.

Lastly, try not to use your phone as much as possible. While there is no specific rule, it is something that applies strongly. It may be tempting to want to take pictures of products or even selfies in the store, but most stores will not allow it. So, refrain from using your phone only in case of emergencies or you may face a bad experience with security guards.
