Expectations that the cannabis beverage market is going to be huge are starting to be seen
There are predictions that the cannabis beverage market will reach into the multibillion-dollar range within just a few short years. The stigma surrounding cannabis has quickly been eroded, paving the way for mainstream acceptance. A number of companies have already begun to introduce beverages that contain the non-psychoactive cannabinoid CBD (cannabidiol), and Molson Coors, through a partnership with Hexo, is now bringing its products to Colorado.
Molson Coors and Hexo formed Truss CBD USA in anticipation of forming a large distribution network of cannabis beverages in the US. That led to the creation of the Veryvell brand, a hemp-based, sparkling CBD water that has zero calories and no sugar. Veryvell, the company’s first step into the US CBD market, is now available in Colorado at certain retailers, as well as online, and come in three flavors – a grapefruit/tarragon combination called Focus, a strawberry and hibiscus blend called Mind & Body and a blueberry/lavender mix called Unwind. Each is infused with 20mg of CBD and available in 12-ounce cans, four-packs and, online only, eight-packs and 12-packs.
Pete Marino of Molson Coors said in a press release about the launch, “Last year, we redefined ourselves as Molson Coors Beverage Company and in doing so, laid out a clear vision of leveraging the competitive strengths of our storied foundation in beer to grow in new spaces beyond the beer aisle. Truss’ entry into the CBD market in Colorado and the launch of Veryvell™, a brand we believe will resonate well with Colorado consumers, is another example of Molson Coors’ expansion into new beverage categories.”
