A number of cannabis benefits have already been confirmed through science

From time to time, it helps to take a few moments to discuss the health benefits of cannabis and to try and weed out the false information that opponents want to spread. Science has already proven that, for a number of conditions, cannabis is the perfect medical solution and the list will continue to grow as more research is conducted. Among the most common conditions targeted by cannabis, the following are proven by science.

Multiple sclerosis patients can find muscle relief thanks to cannabis. Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the psychoactive cannabinoid in cannabis, helps to relieve the muscle contractions and cramping and this has been documented in the Canadian Medical Association Journal.

Acute or chronic pain sufferers provide a great deal of anecdotal evidence to support the use of cannabis and science reinforces that evidence more. Pharmaceutical products have been found to provide relief in only 30-40% of patients. However, a study from 2011 showed that cannabis consumption could completely eliminate chronic pain in over 75% of patients.

Three years ago, a study on how THC impacts cartilage growth or deterioration had some very interesting results. The loss of cartilage is especially pronounced in those suffering from osteoarthritis and scientists proved that THC can help prevent the cartilage from breaking down.

Cannabis, mostly through the cannabidiol (CBD) compound, can help an array of dermatological problems. It helps to control psoriasis, eczema and acne, and can also regenerate the skin to keep it from having the “aged” look.

CBD, along with cannabigerol (CBG), can treat leukemia. The bone marrow cancer has been proven to be reversed through a treatment that combines the two compounds.

Cannabis also helps to fight stress, insomnia and anxiety, issues that have already been well documented as improving through cannabis treatments. Mother Nature’s wonder drug also has a very low overdose risk – lower than even water – and this makes it much safer for treating medical issues.
