The artist and long-time cannabis supporter puts his weight behind the industry

Legendary rapper Rakim is one of the most recent artists to enter the world of marijuana. More and more recognized faces are admitting that the plant is beginning to be seen in a new light, with great benefits for the community that decides to give it a try. Rakim says he now feels more comfortable taking a position as an advocate for the industry even though, for some time, he has been more private than some of his fellow artists.

The Black Market Group (BMG), a cannabis brand founded by women, announced in the middle of this year the arrival of the Higher Frequency Flowers brand to the California market. Conceived and curated by legendary Hip-Hop lyricist Rakim, Higher Frequency Flowers has been part of Josephine and Billie’s dispensary, located at 1535 W Martin Luther King Jr Blvd, LA. Originally, this was a cannabis speakeasy founded by women.

“Higher Frequency Flower was developed to assist artists and deep thinkers as they explore and expand the universal connections that form the foundation of their creative process. We’re curating each of our strains and introducing new techniques and technology that will lead the way to the next level of cannabis cultivation,” the rapper explains.

Rakim is entering the Golden State cannabis market to connect conscious growers and curious consumers through a socially informed cannabis brand. Josephine and Billie’s, founded by television executive turned cannabis CEO Whitney Beatty along with entrepreneur and COO Ebony Andersen, is the first retailer in California to officially carry Rakim’s brand.
