More jobs are coming to the cannabis space, offsetting losses seen in recent years

In 2022, the US created 428,059 jobs in the different locations where marijuana use has been decriminalized. The cannabis market is billionaire, but there is a need for a workforce that can work in this sector. New York is a state that has been opening up a lot of opportunities for those who want to be part of its recent market. Many people have now decided to form a career thanks to the different jobs that this market has to offer.

Experts at CannabizTeam predict that there could be 63,000 marijuana jobs across the Empire State by 2025, many of them in retail and hospitality. With the recent launch of recreational marijuana sales in New York, the state has joined one of the fastest-growing industries in the country. As a result, more and more companies are likely to expand a hiring spree to fill thousands of jobs related to the plant.

In a recent report, the industry’s executive search and staffing firm predicted that New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut could surpass the West Coast region in sales and revenue over the next decade. Pending further regulation, several hands have been raised to enter the marijuana business, as the profit potential is ample. It is one of the first efforts to “train endocannabinoid experts from the technical, biological, research, pharmaceutical chemistry, and extraction side.

The Big Apple has lagged behind the rest of the country in recovering employment lost during the pandemic, so the creation of new jobs becomes a boon for many of these residents. Most of the jobs in the cannabis industry are in retail and customer service, opening doors for those who had to leave their jobs in the city’s hotels and restaurants.
