Regular, moderated cannabis consumption allows seniors to enjoy everyday activities

A recent study conducted by the New York School of Medicine confirmed that cannabis use brings benefits to senior citizens. According to the findings of this study, it was observed that, even though older citizens don’t partake in the use of recreational cannabis as much as younger generations, they show strong support for the medicinal benefits it has, especially when it comes to remaining active. The results of this study go in line with those made earlier by the University of Colorado School of Medicine, in which its results showed that senior citizens are finding traction thanks to marijuana use.

In this insightful and detailed study, one thing that stood out is that elderly people are more accepting of cannabis as a recreational drug than they were ten years ago. It is a good sign that the generation believed to have more opposition towards the plant is starting to accept it more. Those senior citizens who tried cannabis were said to have noticed improvements to their lifestyle that were unknown before, while others said that they experienced uplifts in their quality of life.

Among the most common uses reported by respondents is pain management. Chronic pain is a very real and common problem among seniors because the body heals slower and it doesn’t work as efficiently as it once did. Seniors are reporting that using cannabis is allowing them to perform workout routines and engage in physical activities because they are able to manage pain like arthritis, which is also common among older citizens.
