The actor and long-time cannabis supporter extends his reach in the market

News of more celebrities joining the marijuana industry through new lines keeps coming in every week. Now, it appears that actor Jim Belushi is making the necessary moves to grow his share of the growing industry. It all started with the famous actor’s visit to Tulsa recently. At the suggestion of a friend, he decided to visit The Emerald Gallery, home of Tulsa’s medical marijuana brand Glazed Edibles. From that moment on, the marijuana grower and advocate fell in love and said he wants to start his own brand.

“Their products are through the roof,” he told NewsChannel 8 during a Zoom call. “Their candy, their chocolate… I don’t know where their magic touch comes from, but I want to find out.” And that’s exactly what happened. Belushi immediately contacted Katie Hutto and Katie Mabrey, the owners of Glazed and also owners of the beloved chocolate store Glacier Confection. The conversation apparently ended very well as they are now joining forces to create a line of groceries that will hit shelves this month called Chasing Magic.

Both Katies say they are excited about the project, and that beyond partnering with a celebrity, they hope the line will be a success knowing that Belushi will give his heart and soul to making it happen. “I want to be very clear that the reason we are partnering with Jim is his belief in the product and the view of the product.”

Mabrey says his bond with the actor stems mainly from their passion for relieving people’s pain. “It’s just been an honor to be a part of it and partner with Jim and his mission, and he’s helping enhance our mission,” said Hutto.

Belushi says he’s already found the magic in Tulsa, and, in order to celebrate the partnership, he and Dan Aykroyd will be at the Golden Hurricane for an epic concert at Cain’s Ballroom.
