Take the chill off with homemade apple cider made better with cannabis
Apple cider is a traditional beverage with digestive properties. Cider is made by fermenting apples, a common practice where these fruit trees traditionally grew. A drink like this has a very low alcohol content (between 3% and 8%) which makes it one of the healthiest alcoholic beverages available. As many already know, the benefits increase even more when marijuana enters the game, which makes today’s recipe ideal for all those who want to have a good time and keep their health intact.
To get started, be sure to gather the following ingredients:
4 C of apple cider, organic if possible.
4 cinnamon sticks
4 star anise pods
8 cloves
A 1-inch piece of ginger, (optional)
2-4 T brown sugar or another sweetener (perhaps omit this if you dose with glycerin or canna-honey)
1-2 T cannabis tincture: alcohol tincture, glycerin tincture, or canna-honey
Apples and lemons, oranges or tangerines, thinly sliced, for garnish.
Once you have everything ready, start by heating the apple cider in a two-quart saucepan over medium heat with the ginger and spices, if using. When it comes to a simmer, turn the heat down to low and add sweetener, if using, and cannabis tincture or honey. Stir to dissolve and let simmer for about eight minutes.
Pour the hot cider into 12-ounce mugs and garnish each with a cinnamon stick and one of the star anise pods, plus a slice of apple and lemon or another citrus. Remember that if this is a recipe intended for a party, you can triple it and serve it in a slow cooker on the “warm” setting.
