The culture of drinking tea has expanded worldwide, and the market already presents many options for enthusiasts. To spice up things during the weekend, if you are a tea lover, you can infuse your cup of tea with cannabis to make the experience even more soothing. This homemade cannabis-infused recipe is an easy, healthy alternative to try at almost any time. Yields: About three mug-sized cups of tea
Preparation time: one hour

Ingredients

-1 gram of ground cannabis (the citrus-scented strains work better with tea)
-1 T of unsalted butter or coconut oil
-1 Teabag of your favorite tea (or the classic English Breakfast that never disappoints)
-4 C of water
-Additional flavor-adding ingredients, such as honey, milk, sugar, cinnamon, etc.
-Cheesecloth or a fine strainer

Preparation

First, in a medium-size pot, add four cups of water and bring them to a boil. Once boiling, add the chosen fat (coconut oil or unsalted butter) and let it dissolve completely. Remember that tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) needs something fatty to adhere to under high heat – that is actually the best way to separate the desired components from the plant.

Next, add the gram of ground cannabis into the boiling pot and turn down the temperature until the mixture simmers. Allow it to do so for the next 15 minutes – consider simmering it at the lowest possible temperature to preserve the more nuanced flavors of the strain. The terpenes are the first ones to burn off when exposed to high temperatures.

Use a cheesecloth to strain out the little bits of cannabis and make sure you secure it around the top of the teapot or bowl. Pour the boiling mixture through the cheesecloth and then add your tea bag into the teapot along with any other flavor you want to add. Let it sit for three minutes, then stir to incorporate the fat component again. The last step is the most important – enjoy!
