Melissa McCarthy allegedly used CBD oil on her feet to remain comfortable
Melissa McCarthy was all smiles during the Oscars presentation and now we know why. According to some inside sources, the Hollywood actress and comedian got ready for the big night – ready to stand around for hours at a time in high heels – by rubbing cannabidiol (CBD) oil on her feet ahead of the festivities.
CBD oil is already known to be a fantastic way to relieve pain. It includes, among other things, a powerful anti-inflammatory and is finding its way into a number of products and markets, from topical creams to oral supplements. As a topical, according to the medical advisor for Weedmaps, Bonni Goldstein, “It’s unlikely to penetrate deep enough to get into the bloodstream and it tends to accumulate in the upper skin layers.” In the case of McCarthy, this would be exactly where she needed the most relief.
McCarthy isn’t alone in her appreciation of CBD oil. Kate Young, a Hollywood stylist, reportedly uses it on a number of her clients, including Selena Gomez, Margot Robbie and Rachel Weisz.
The co-founder of Lord Jones, Cindy Capobianco, explains, “Applying CBD half an hour before wearing shoes, especially high heels, is very effective because it acts as an analgesic and anti-inflammatory, so it reduces pain and swelling.”
McCarthy never confirmed personally whether or not she had, in fact, rubbed CBD oil on her feet. However, she did tell Access Hollywood that she took a thermos of Scotch with her in case she needed an escape. Since she wasn’t seen stumbling around the Dolby Theatre, the CBD oil must have worked.
