Hemp granola recipe for a quick and easy treat

Granola lovers have a new treat to try. Hemp granola combines the superfood properties of hemp seeds with the hyper-efficiency of oats to create a unique, delicious snack that can be enjoyed anywhere, anytime. Oats are already known to be extremely healthy grains that can help lower blood sugar and reduce the risk of heart disease, and combining oats with hemp seeds enhances the benefits. Also, making it is super easy and only takes about five minutes.

The recipe calls for:

1/4 C. peanut butter
1/4 C. + 1 honey or agave syrup
2 T butter
2-3 T hemp seeds
2 t ground flax seed
1/2 t ground cinnamon
1/8 t vanilla extract
1/8 t sea salt
3/4 – 1 C. rolled oats
1 T coconut flakes, unsweetened

To prepare, start by preheating the oven to 350 and, in a small saucepan over medium heat, combine the butter and peanut butter, stirring until softened. Turn down the heat and add the honey or agave and stir for about a minute.

Add in the oats and combine well. Next, add the rest of the ingredients, turn off the heat and stir well. If the mixture is really thick, you’ve done it right. Lay out a sheet of aluminum foil on a 1”-thick baking sheet and pour the mixture onto one side of the foil. Flatten with a spoon and place the baking sheet into the oven for 15 minutes. If the edges start to turn brown, the granola is ready.

Let the new hemp granola cool for a minimum of ten minutes before enjoying and store any leftovers in the refrigerator.
