Marshawn Lynch is the latest athlete and celebrity to get in on the cannabis craze

Get ready for Beast Mode cannabis. Snoop Dogg has his own brand challenging Jay-Z’s Monogram brand. Willie Nelson and Whoopi Goldberg have their names attached to popular brands of marijuana wherever it is legal. And even Tommy Chong, from Cheech and Chong, has a brand called Chong’s Choice. Now, recently retired NFL All-Star running back Marshawn Lynch is adding his name to the celebrity list of mostly retired athletes and actors who are entering the marijuana business in a serious way.

Lynch’s new enterprise is called Dodi Blunts and, for now, is available only in the Bay Area in California. The term Dodi is local slang to mean high-quality marijuana with plenty of THC (tetrahydrocannabinol). The former Raiders running back said that he was initially attracted to invest in the cannabis industry because of its potential to positively affect black and brown communities.

In a recent interview, Lynch stated, “Dodi has always been a part of my life. If I was going to have a marijuana company, I wanted to make sure I did it the right way.”
Dodi’s first product, called THCa diamond-infused blunts, are scheduled to go on sale at dispensaries around the Bay Area in the near future and have been created by using organically grown Zkittles marijuana strain curated by Lynch and his friends. The blunts will come pre-rolled in a palm leaf wrapper, Lynch’s preferred method of smoking.

The target of the new business venture is no less than $10 million for the first year of sales. Lynch also has a line of clothing he calls Beast Mode, a nickname he picked up with the Seattle Seahawks for his particular style of running with the football.
