Sovereign Vines will offer the wine tastings beginning this summer

New York legalized hemp production last year. With that, a whole new batch of consumer products started making their way to store shelves. Now, a company that specializes in hemp-infused wines is going to begin offering wine tastings of their products in order to help the industry continue to expand.

Sovereign Vines, a division of Innovative Bottling, Inc., will offer the wine tastings in New York’s Skaneateles Lake. The tasting room will offer a variety of wines, which are made with grapes from Finger Lakes and hemp from either New York or Colorado. It will also offer a variety of other craft hemp products.

When the company began developing the wines in 2017, it was solely using hemp from Colorado. However, it started integrating New York hemp a year later after the state legalized its cultivation. Sovereign expects to work with as many as 20 New York hemp farms this year.

According to Innovative Bottling CEO Kaelan Castetter, “It really adds another dimension to the wine. It sets our wine apart from others,” adding, “New York is going to be a great climate for hemp.” New York hemp is said to offer a more fruity and floral flavor than the Colorado hemp.

Sovereign Vines currently has four products that are sold in restaurants and liquor stores in The Empire State, including Harvest Red Blend, Oasis Dry Rosé, Sweet Rosé and Cayuga White. Two other products, limited editions Sweet Cayuga reserve and Cab Franc En Hemp, are sold only at special events and farmer’s markets.
