Participants can earn over $1,000 for taking part in the program

CU Boulder in Colorado doesn’t want marijuana-related research to stop trending, and that’s why several campus labs will start offering different opportunities for community members to be part of the studies that are responsible for revealing more and more of the benefits that can be found in the plant. The best part of it all is that participation comes with monetary compensation for those who choose to be part of the project, some of which can be done online.

There is one study, in particular, that is undoubtedly catching the attention of many. The compound called cannabidiol (CBD) in cannabis is one of the most popular to date. Its properties range from anti-inflammatory properties that help with pain, to those that are necessary to support mood health. The Affective Disorders and Development Research Laboratory is looking for people who would like to be part of a research project studying the effects of CBD on mood and behavior. To be part of this specific research, recruits must be between the ages of 18 and 30.

The laboratory is looking for people who suffer from depression in order to obtain more congruent results and see how CBD can change all the symptoms presented by this mental problem that haunts many. On the other hand, it is also expected to be able to recruit people who have never had a diagnosed mental disorder, to see the behavior and perform a comparative analysis.

The study will include short surveys that will have to be answered twice a day for six weeks via a mobile device. In addition, participants will have to complete three in-person research visits, which include life experience interviews, a blood draw, a series of PC games, and a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scan of the brain. Finally, a CBD product will be selected and used for up to six weeks.

The duration of the project is one and a half months and everyone who participates will receive a maximum compensation of $863-$1,038 for completing all parts of the study.
