The University of Colorado at Boulder continues to lead the way in cannabis research

The topic of cannabis mixed with exercise continues to be a rather hot topic when it comes to the research currently being conducted. So much has this combination been on the rise that researchers at the University of Colorado at Boulder are willing to pay different candidates (both men and women) who exercise constantly to add marijuana into the equation in order to study the possible benefits of the practice.

In order to fill out the application and be potential candidates, people must live in the Boulder area and have some sort of knowledge about mixing training with cannabis. Men who want to participate in the study must be between the ages of 21 and 40, while the range is wider for women who can go from 21 to 50. According to an announcement on the university’s website, these individuals, upon successful completion of the study, will receive a stipend of up to $100.

Earlier this year, a meta-analysis found that marijuana users are likely to get more hours of exercise than non-users. In fact, anecdotal reports suggest that the substance is able to offer a workout boost, making your exercise routines much more complete and effective.

Given all of these findings, researchers at this University are looking to come together to study this phenomenon further through their Study on Physical Activity and Cannabis Effects (SPACE) project. According to Dr. Jordan Tishler, an internal medicine physician and president of the Association of Cannabis Specialists, marijuana has the ability to calm parts of our brain that feed the ego, resulting in a go-with-the-flow mentality that makes exercise less stressful.
