More college students are using the cannabis compound to counter the anxieties associated with learning

If there is something widely present among college students it is stress. It can be hard to deal with several courses and being away from home at the same time and, according to the results of a recent survey conducted at Syracuse University, a large percentage of students are turning to cannabidiol (CBD) to help them deal with their stress, as well as with anxiety relief and pain treatment. The survey, published at lohud.com, reported that 47% of surveyed students consume CBD in different presentations to treat the mentioned ailments.

College time is quite memorable, and people create long-lasting memories while attending. However, several statistics show how this environment can be stressful for many people. Besides the major change in their routines, college students create irregular sleeping habits and ingest large amounts of caffeine to study all night. Also, even though college offers many ways of socializing with people, both on and off-campus, students tend to feel lonely and isolated.

Therefore, CBD seems to be catering to many needs students might have, from manageable levels of anxiety to sports-related injuries. For freshman Isea Kelley, her journey using CBD began after sustained pain and injuries caused by running cross-country and track and field. She also used CBD during her senior year to treat anxiety and stress, she told lohud.com. “I’m not anxious enough to ever need prescription medication, but that doesn’t mean I don’t have anxiety and stress issues and I need things to help deal with that,” Kelley added.

Other surveyed students also reported that using CBD seems like a safe option to tackle many symptoms at once. In addition to that, they don’t get high. Another benefit reported by students is that CBD represents a much cheaper option than the normally prescribed medications by doctors.
