Cannabis meets spicy in these new sauces
As the market for cannabis-infused products continues to expand, there’s good news for the lovers of spicy foods. A new hot sauce is now available that combines the best of two worlds – spicy and cannabis.
Johnny Hexburg brand hot sauces are infused with cannabidiol (CBD) and pumpkin seed oil. Apart from being a hit with spicy food fans, the sauces also offer health benefits. The company’s founder, Marihett Bredenkamp, asserts, “There [are] so many health benefits in consuming chilies, to add the hemp seed oil was just a great combination to promote the healthy side of all the ingredients. Our cannabis sativa sauce is very straightforward. It contains green jalapeño, vinegar hemp seed oil, pumpkin seed oil and a pinch of salt with no sugar added.”
She adds, “Our hot range is one of a kind. We use chilies known as super hots to create this range. None of these chilies can be bought commercially. We grow them and we buy from local small-scale hobby growers. We are using chilies like Carolina Reaper, Ghost Pepper and Trinidad Scorpion Butch T to name a few. This hot range opened the door to the spice lover’s to get something much hotter than any commercial ‘off the shelf’ sauce.”
The cannabis sativa sauce is available in just one flavor with a mild heat. This makes it an ideal solution for different tastes, as it is neither too weak or too potent.
From being used as a marinade (it should be combined with another oil) or as a baste, cannabis-infused hot sauce can be an incredible addition to a variety of dishes.
