Cannabis fans in California can explore the plant’s history this weekend

Cannabis has been a huge part of history for at least 50 years, even if it wasn’t legal back then in California. Now that it is, its history is worth a look. California is one of the pioneer states when it comes to cannabis; therefore, enough items are available for a cannabis museum “season.” In Mendocino County, CA, a great cannabis culture can be found, filled with hippy homesteaders and prohibition entrepreneurs. One of the residents of Willits, Richard Jergenson, has been an avid collector of these related items for the last five decades and is now confident enough to have curated a collection worth of being displayed in its own pop-up museum. That museum will be open to the public in Mendocino County this weekend.

These artifacts collected by Jergenson have not been shown to the public that much and the museum promises to have a remarkable collection. In an effort to share this cannabis culture, a local group at Willits will be hosting this pop-up version of the Cannabis Culture Museum at the old Rexall in Willits on March 1. An announcement about the event reads, “Pop-up exhibit opens Sunday, March 1st, 2-6 PM, at the old Rexall in Willits. An Exhibit of Medical Cannabis History – with the speaker, Fred Gardener, author of O’Shaughnessy’s Sampler: Highlights of the medical marijuana movement, as reported in the paper of record.”

Also, during this period, other cannabis activities will take place, starting with a discussion on the benefits of medical cannabis. According to the general belief in this city, education is the best way to go forward in the community. Thousands of articles have been collected by Jergenson and it takes a whole villa space to show them all.
