A printing company introduces a new Cannabis Travel Art Print Series

Most likely, any vacation plans for this summer might need to be updated to something local due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. Perhaps this is a good opportunity to engage in an artistic experience that includes the cannabis industry. Goldleaf, a boutique printing company for the cannabis community, is known for its artistically designed patient journals, recipe cards, grow planners and even graphic prints. Now, the company has announced a “Cannabis Travel Art Print Series.”

The idea was crafted by the company’s founder, Charles McElroy, who is presenting this series in collaboration with several award-winning artists like Nicholas Moegly, Eugenia Mello and John Vogl. These renowned artists are showcasing all the attributes attached to the cannabis plant, microclimates, grow styles and cultures within the US. For each of the prints, McElroy asked each designer to portray their own take on four different regions: Colorado, Oregon, Northern California, Southern California; each region was chosen for a specific contribution to the cannabis scene.

“I was really inspired by the vintage lithographic style travel prints that were popular in the early to middle 20th century,” McElroy told Katie Shapiro of the Aspen Times. “Being a Cincinnati native, I would frequent the Taft Museum of Art, which has an amazing permanent collection of this type of work [most of the lithographic prints from the late 1800s to mid-1900s were produced in Cincinnati]. I wanted to find artists who were accomplished in this style and could not only make something beautiful but integrate cannabis in a subtle and tasteful way.” For him, Goldleaf was created to normalize the subject of cannabis and help people to better understand the plant.
