The Golden State is establishing a major marketing campaign to promote the legal cannabis industry

California not only has the biggest legal recreational marijuana market in the country, but it also has been a pioneer when it comes to innovations in this growing market. To continue developing the industry, the Golden State has announced the launch of an educational campaign that aims to promote the cannabis industry and also give farmers more resources to secure and keep their current cultivation licenses. This initiative comes from the California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) CalCannabis Cultivation Licensing division, and the name of the campaign is “This is California Cannabis.”

This move involves multiple events that will offer workshops in which residents can learn more about the licensing opportunities the state still has. Additionally, the agency is planning on providing technical assistance to those who are interested. “CDFA is committed to the success of our state’s commercial cannabis cultivators,” Karen Ross, the secretary of the department, said in a press release. “‘This is California Cannabis’ celebrates the passion and hard work of licensed cannabis growers and highlights how we’re all working together to protect and promote the health, safety and quality of the industry.”

“California is home to some of the most resilient and dedicated cultivator communities,” wrote CalCannabis in a tweet. As part of this campaign, a quarterly newsletter will begin to feature profiles of licensed cultivators, policy updates and tips. So far, the department has published only three profiles of farmers based in Humboldt County, Santa Barbara County and Monterey County. “To live in Humboldt and to grow [marijuana], it’s an amazing life,” CaliGardens owner Spencer Sanborn is shown saying in one of the state-funded videos. “We care about the people around us. If that can make it through, I’ll feel like I have succeeded.”
