The former Golden Gloves champ is one of many athletes who understands the benefits of cannabis

Professional boxer Karim Mayfield is inactive for now from the ring. However, he was the 2006 Golden Gloves Champion and has solid roots in the San Francisco Bay Area where the former welterweight champ has recently expanded into cannabis business ownership. He has long supported its use and has several “must-have” cannabis products that he regularly consumes.

Mayfield’s nickname is “Hard Hitta,” and he backs that up with a record of 21 wins, including 11 knockouts and five losses. Although he talks of training to get back into the ring someday, Mayfield is now the CEO and owner-in-partnership with the Shryne Group-of Authentic 415 in San Francisco. He is dedicated to giving back to the community that he came from.

Although THC use is in violation of the World Anti-Doping Agency’s (WADA) rules, CBD is not. Mayfield never uses THC when he is fighting or training for a fight. However, the boxer does sell and loves to use cannabis when he is not in training. Mayfield speaks of the benefits of cannabis, “I think the benefits are, it won’t solve your problems, but at the time you feel like things are okay. When I consume cannabis, if I do have a problem, my mind fades out and finds out a way to help that problem. I can think a little deeper at times. It also makes movies funnier.”

Mayfield says that there are four cannabis products that he can’t live without. The most well-known of the four are Papa & Barkley Releaf Balm, which is a popular CBD topical balm. The fighter says, “Anytime I had a fight coming up, I would stay away from any type of psychoactive, and just make sure I was on CBD only. No edibles, no smoke, no anything.”

Now, in those rare times that the boxer does use recreational marijuana, he prefers STIIIZY’s vape pens. “I like the resin ones because they taste good; they’re super incognito; they’re just lowkey.” In addition to STIIIZY’s Circa, some of his favorite strains have been Gary Payton and Cake Mix from Cookies. Mayfield also enjoys products from the Ball Family Farms, which is a Black owned and operated cannabis company in California.
