Luxury retailer Barneys is getting into cannabis

A luxury retailer with stores in Beverly Hills and New York is embracing the cannabis industry. Barneys has announced that it will open a cannabis lifestyle store on the fifth floor of its flagship store in Beverly Hills, adding that it will begin offering an assortment of select cannabis accessories on its website, Barneys.com.

The new shop is expected to launch next month and will be called “The High End.” It will span 300 square feet, offering cannabis edibles and cannabidiol (CBD) vape pens from Beboe, as well as beauty and wellness products from Lab to Beauty, Saint Jane, The Good Patch, Vertly and others.

Barneys is also negotiating deals with other companies to offer exclusive items such as pipes, trays, lighters and pastille dispensers. It goes without saying that all of the products would be picked from only luxury producers – those of the Lorenzi Milano caliber and would all be top-of-the-line goods.

According to Barneys New York Creative Director Matthew Mazzucca, “Everything in the landscape right now feels more on the medical side of things, and we felt like we could differentiate. This isn’t driven by the flower itself; it’s really about creating beautiful products you can keep in the home, whether you smoke weed or not. It’s more about lifestyle.”

Barneys isn’t alone as an established retailer embracing cannabis. This past January, Neiman Marcus announced that it would begin offering CBD-infused beauty products and other retailers, such as Sephora and DSW, have also jumped into the space, as well.
