When deciding which CBD oil to purchase, consider the target
Cannabidiol (CBD) oil has become one of the hottest topics of conversation in the past year. It has received a considerable amount of publicity, but there is still some confusion about the cannabis-derived extract. While CBD oil offers a wide range of health benefits, it’s important to know which oil to choose and what to look for when making a decision.
Full-spectrum CBD oil contains additional cannabinoids and plant compounds, all of which work together to enhance their effects. On the other hand, isolate oils are refined to be 99% pure and include a carrier oil, such as hemp seed oil or liquid coconut, and contain no other cannabinoids.
Extraction methods can affect the potency and introduce toxins that counter CBD oil’s purpose. CO2 extraction doesn’t use any chemicals, while extraction using chemical solvents can introduce unwanted toxic residue in the final product. CO2 extraction also typically enables higher amounts of CBD to be extracted than what is found with other extraction methods.
The source of the cannabis needs to be considered, as well. Consumers should always try to choose a company that divulges where the hemp is grown and whether or not any chemicals were used in the extraction process. Without exception, never use CBD oil that has been processed from farms that use pesticides or chemical fertilizers.
The amount of CBD contained in a product should be listed on its packaging. It will be within 250 and 1,000 mg, sometimes more, per fluid ounce, and a higher amount indicates a more potent product.
The level of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) also should be checked. Many products made with CBD oil won’t contain any THC, the psychoactive compound in cannabis, but some will. Reputable companies will provide products that have less than 0.3% THC, the legally allowable amount in most states.
If the price of a certain product is substantially lower than a competitor’s, run away. A huge price difference is a good indication that the lower-priced item is of lesser quality and might contain questionable ingredients.
As is the case with any purchase, consumers need to educate themselves before selecting products containing CBD oil. Don’t believe the hype; believe in the facts.
